A couple of thought -provoking messages from a close friend prompts me to resume a long pending
activity-blogging.One of the messages goes thus:
"If you are weak, your thoughts will control your action. But if you are strong, you force actions to
control your thoughts".But how to be strong?
That left me wondering about this chicken and egg vicious cycle...
A thought leads to planning by the mind which blossoms into action..;irrespective of it being good
or bad we implement our ideas through corresponding actions.
This being the normal process, there are times when we do and then think..mostly when we err...and
regret our actions as well.On such occasions, actions precede thoughts and its just the other way...
So, what is the right path?
Thus, if actions precede thought , such actions are likely to be hasty mistakes by a weak person..Is
my friend wrong then?
But what about certain actions ,prayer for instance, that gain control over the mind
over a period of time with practice?;As good virtues practised habitually cleanse the
thinking...Persistence is what makes it possible...But even to practice regularly without lethargy we
need a strong will?
WELL THOUGHT OUT ACTIONS INDICATE STRONG MIND ;TO DEVELOP WHICH WE
NEED TO ACT WELL.
Here, "strong" is not to be confused with "right" or "wrong"..as even terrorists "think" well and
implement their thoughts well,unfortunately.
Can we discuss this friends?

It is said thoughts turn in to actions; actions in to habit; habit mold our characters; character defines our destiny. If our awareness goes deep beyond the mind (the place where thoughts are acknowledged or witnessed) then we are capable of using our intellect wisely to choose which thought to acknowledge and which not to.
Looking at the below sequence, we are mostly in the mind (stuck in thoughts). In other words the intellect is clouded by thoughts while it resides in the mind. Hence, a wise choice is a rare phenomenon. When the awareness beyond the mind which is behind the thought, it is a space (no-mind or no-thought exists) here the intellect is clear and unclouded by any thoughts and hence we become pure witness to thoughts. Figuratively speaking, we become the director and not the actor. we gain the power of choosing being the director which thought should the actor play. :)
(CORE or PURE AWARENESS- no-mind or no-thought)...thoughts > actions > habit > character > destiny
PS: It is only my attempt to express my experience thus far. I may be wrong also. :)
Wow!!amazing clarity of thought!!it almost feels like am reading a page of Tolle..proud of your progress chandru
Just tell me this:how can a witness also play dual role as director?Saakshi is gone the moment direction takes over...because you get into action mode then(mind's action)right?
When we reach a state of witnessing thoughts we can also witness our actions. In that space there is no dual role there is only no role. Because you aren't the actor anymore but the witness (director). Your question is how to witness and also act. But when the state of witnessing is reached there is only pure witnessing whether we are witness to thoughts or actions. Hence, the moment we get in to the state of witnessing every action we do also seems like somebody else is doing although it is you who is doing. This also means to say that there is no attachment to the ego. There is no 'I-do' here. The moment 'I-do' comes in to picture then we feed the ego and hence we become the actor and hence there is no witness anymore.
